The Big Split

The Big Split is dividing the continent of Zang-Thara straight through the middle. It's tumultuous winds and waters make it virtually impossible to cross from one part to the other via ship.
The Big Split also refers to the event in 0 AS that is also used for the current calculation of time. This event was caused by the largest magical explosion of all time from the magical super-weapon created by the Altar to defeat the forces of the enslaved species. This discharge of magical energy caused the Big Split and eradicated the capital of the Altar empire, along with the majority of the Altar population, sealing the fate of the Altar race, who became extinct in 89 AS.
