Chosen

There is a saying among the common folk of spindle, 'the power of the gods is limitless within its limits' this is a fundamental truth of the age. the new gods, tied as they are to the land, have almost unlimited power inside the confines of that space. Lady Malakye of the River, for instance, a mile or so on each side of the banks of her river her Abesses and acolytes can do wonders with the waters, but one step beyond? At that point, they are once again just powerless people. It is no wonder then that in this age, the age of the land gods, the leaders of the people who live upon that land are chosen. 
They take many names, but in the end, they are all Chosen. 
Whether it be to rule, lead or subdue, each of these people was chosen by a god to run the show. To those from the godless places, the desert, or the fray, these chosen are an embodiment of that god's ideals, they lead even those not of their people in how to perceive them.
Being the Chosen of a god is not a passive act in most cases, it can take years of work and devotion to gain their notice. But for many, for the true believers, the gifts that it brings far outweigh the cost.
