Zamorian Empire

The Zamorian Empire is the largest empire in the universe. Ruled by Empress Aleria, it spans over 40 planets, each with its own semi-independent governments, all answering to the Empress. Because of the massive influence the Zamorian Empire has over the universe, its culture spreads even to planets which have never seen Zamorian rule. The Zamorian language is sometimes referred to as a 'common tongue' as a result of this; anywhere one goes in the universe, one is sure to hear Zamorian.

Structure

Each planet has quite a lot of flexibility in how it governs itself, but ultimately must answer to the leaders assigned to different groups of planets to oversee their governments.The chain of command between local government all the way up to Aleria is extensive, with plenty of checks and balances. This can be a double-edged sword, as, while it keeps each planet governing properly, an issue can have to go through many more steps in order to reach a resolution than it might in another, less expansive government.

History

The Zamorian Empire was originally known as Yukat, a large nation which, through both diplomacy and conquest, managed to claim all of Zamoria. An emperor was chosen to oversee all of the planet at the highest level, with many tiers of government below all answering to them.
