The Regulators

mod kart
They are the galaxy’s standard form of police. Individual planets are free to protect themselves, their moons, and the space between; Regulators operate in unclaimed space and on uncolonized planets. Systems may choose to simply hire Regulators with their tax money instead of building up a protection force of their own. Could the Regulators break off and form their own military regime unchecked? Yeah, probably. All sectors together make up the largest fighting force in the entire galaxy. Uniform Regulators are recognisable by their helmets and dark blue uniforms. Badges on their chest and shoulders show rank and sector. The helmets they wear are somewhat infamous because they make the faces of Regulators unseen. Some claim that this anonymity breeds excess violence both from and toward the Regulator ranks. Body armor and lethal weapons are only worn as needed, but the definition of “as needed” often varies depending on who's sending the dispatches. The Regulators in some sectors function simply as an intimidation tactic to keep inhabitants in check. These Regulators wear (cool, but not super practical) capes and rarely see action. Others have less restricting helmets and clothing because they need to be flexible and active to actually fight crime.

Composition

Manpower

As their reach is galaxy wide, new Regulators are being recruited and trained constantly. Humanoid persons of any species and from any planet are gladly scooped up, except those with criminal backgrounds. Humans and Naza are the most common species to join the Regulators; humans by their nature and Naza by their sheer numbers. Regulator Academies are often located on moons, but nobody knows quite why this is.

Vehicles

The Regulators have developed a variety of vehicles to suit their variety of purposes. The Regulator fleet encompasses everything from motorbike-like hover speeders to large spacecraft that probably fit in to the definition of “warship” for many. Small craft for enforcing the law planetside are usually fitted with red and blue light bars and sirens; spaceships usually lack these unless they’re multipurpose. Big or small, all Regulator ships share the same dark grey paint job with white and dark blue accents.
