Humans

by mod Yella
Humanity in the far future has developed a fair bit from how they were in the days of early Old Earth. Due to intermingling with other species and natural evolution, a few curious things have cropped up in the gene pool. While the humans of old had wisdom teeth and the coccyx, the humans living today have evolved past these things. As a species, humans now clock in at about six feet average due to extended space living. About one third of humans are born with a hair color considered exotic due to the introduction of a new gene strand inherited by other alien species. About one sixty fourth of humans are born without hair at all. Humans also have particularly large pupils and brains. About one in every one thousand humans has another thumb instead of a pinky. Humanity is ruled by the current Galactic Empire. In the early Exploration Period they agreed to ally with some of the major species powers to form a government in order to appease political tensions. Humans unfortunately have never shaken the desire to ‘rank’ themselves, no longer by the color of their skin but by advanced their genes are. Some are born with colorful hair due to a century of relations (;0) with other species, some have another thumb instead of a pinky, exc. All that shit is ranked because of course it is.

Civilization and Culture

Common Dress Code

Human culture today is almost obsessed with odd fashion. In a world where surgeries are safer and more advanced than ever before, many upper-middle-class and wealthy citizens elect to have body modifications. These modifications range from subtle plastic surgery, to exotic facial features, to the entire body becoming a bright color.

History

In the century leading up to Humanity’s max exodus from Old Earth, only about five major cities remained: Chicago, Cuzco, Dubai, Moscow, and Nairobi. Overcrowding and rampant monopolies, along with sickness and pollution all spelled a rapidly approaching end to the planet, and everyone could see the writing on the wall. About fifty years before the evacuation, the cities pooled their resources and began to launch supplies and building teams into space to create the Savior, a massive self sustaining ship that would be able to fly humans to the nearest habitable planet- dubbed Exo-Terra. Ten years before the launch, a questionnaire was sent out to all residences on record. It was an assessment of skills combined with a do-it-yourself DNA kit. Only one in six million would be allowed on board for the launch of Savior. Naturally, people everywhere were pissed. Nowhere was this more clear than in Nairobi. The people began to riot in the streets and hundreds of millions of people refused to work. It was absolute chaos. The city was plagued by violence for three years before some of the extremists got into the nuclear reactor that powered the city and blew it up. Three billion people died as the blast rocketed through the streets. Buildings came tumbling to the ground, effectively turning the entire city into a mass grave. After the disaster in Nairobi, humanity was forced to open their eyes. The end was coming and it was time to Go. Seven years later 3,000,000 people were shuttled to the Savior and sent on their way.
