Hoverlight Spheres

Written by dweam

Also known as the Galaxy Maker, Round Borealis, Every Biker’s End, and even the old earther name of the Globe of Death, Hover Light Spheres are giant fiberglass globes in which bikers drive at ridiculous speeds in and around the objects. Due to the advancement of building materials and physical science in general, over the years the globes have gotten increasingly more elaborate. Instead of the globes splitting into halves or thirds, someone decided it would be a good idea to split the globe into 5th or 6ths. And add ramps in the middle. And 20x bigger. With 40 riders in at once. Ok seriously who’s idea was this. Ironically, the worst kind of bikes (read: hoverbikes) are considered the best for these kind of stunts. The hoverlight spheres are made out of several layers of fiberglass and steel supports, with electromagnetic nodes nestled in the innermost layers, giving the hoverbikes the traction they need to stay on the sphere. Because of these, the riders are able to ride anywhere along the surface. A common trick is for riders to purposely jerk their bike so they jump to the opposite side of the dome, doing flips and other cool stuff along the way. One dome even had a giant electromagnetic generator in the middle, making the the hoverlight sphere act like some kind of super mario galaxy planet for the stuntmen. The “light” in the name is reference to the highlights on your average hoverbike being blurred to just lines due to their extreme speed. Realizing this, bikers started adding special engine lights that were especially good at leaving afterimages. So basically take this giant, splitting dome with ramps all over it, put all of the motorbike scene in Tron in there, and boom, you have yourself a hoverlight sphere. Seriously, who’s idea was this.
