Azure Desert

Geography

A seemingly endless wasteland of blue and white sand. The landscape of sand ranges from flat plains to rocky mountainous peaks. During the day there is harsh sunlight and strong winds that cause dust devils. Cracked land, crumbling rocks and wind-worn formations make up the mountainous roots. At night the Landscape changes, the lands becoming so bitter cold that the little moisture in the air freezes bringing a different deadly difficulty to the blue sands. Flash flood create changing landscapes as the water freezes and thaws daily, this creates sparks of life that collect around the shallow waters and feed on its nutrients. The sound of winds whistling and tearing through the sands fill the air. The taste of gritty dust laces your tongue. Where the Sands reach the coast life flourishes as the sea brings habitats to the wasteland. Parts of the rocky coastline are covered in large crystalline salt that had been formed over the years. Frequent storms and lightning lead to areas of strange blue glass that are scattered across the sands.

Fauna & Flora

Due to the duality of the temperature in the desert life is sparse and odd. Cacti and other water-storing plants scatter the landscapes. Most of the animal life consists of small insects and beetles. The larger mammals that live in the wasteland make use of burrows and holes to stay cool during the day and warm at night. Few frozen oasis or river that runs through the desert provide areas of rich vegetation and exotic life.

Natural Resources

Food is sparse in this hellish landscape but there are stories and rumours of hordes of gems and unbelievable wealth under the lands. Legends say that the creatures that lurk under the sand some times accidentally bring these riches to the surface, causing most intelligent creatures nearby to fight over their wealth.
