Wander Weed

Once long ago, I ventured to the surface with the aid of a bright young Aethrial tracker named Dim Gama. He once led me to a sight so uniquely strange and beautiful that to this day I have not forgotten a single detail. We were tracking back to our ship for the night, and along our journey we were force to take a detour, in order to a hunting pack of Lavi, that led us to what could best be called a poisoned oasis. Upon reaching the edge of oasis Dim stop short in his tracks and signaled to get down. We crept low in the "brush" as we watched in awe.
Entering the clearing from the opposite direction of the oasis a strange half tumble weed, half deer creature. It approached the pool and it gingerly dipped the roots of its face into the foul tepid water of the aether poisoned glowing pool. As I looked upon the strange sight, that would best described as sipping, I noticed that the glow of the pool dimmed and small purple buds began to bloom on back of the "Dear". So amazed at the sight I inadvertently gasped, the beast startled turned and trotted away at a speed unlike any I had seen before.
Dim later told me that the creature was called the "god of the wastes", and that the buds on the creatures back where a powerful magic pain killer that fetched a high price as both a legal and illegal narcotic. The god could also lead stranded travelers to fresh water. To spite their beauty, they had been hunted to near extinction in the wastes of Sorti. --Mable Cantor Archaeologist

Basic Information

Anatomy

It is simply put a small game mammal, but made entirely out of branches and vines. They can appear as deer, rabits, wolverines...ect.

Genetics and Reproduction

It plants itself in the softest soil it can find, and absorbs magic from its surrounding during its reproductive cycle, and drops fruit from it braches. If the seed of the fruit are allowed to grow they will become another full grown Wander Weed. The entire process happens over the course of a month, but only occurs once ever seven years.

Growth Rate & Stages

Fast Growth Rate, will go from fruit seed to fully grown in one months time, during that time the branches slowly grow together to form their final shape with the original seed becoming a heart of sorts.

Ecology and Habitats

The wastes are the best environment for the plant, as it has an ample amount of ambiant magic for the Wander Weed to sup on.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It survives by absorbing nutrients from aether, water, and soil.

Biological Cycle

They have no know death age, as magical starvation and hunting, seem to be their only causes of death. Oldest know Wandering Weed is 300 years old.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

It is a common belief that it has stronger senses then your average animal of the same species it has grown to represent to spite the lack of nose, mouth, ears or eyes.

Conservation Status

Protected Species - Poachers are punished harshly. Many are kept in protective captivity.
