The Palette of the Muses
The Palette of the Muses, is a giant artistic landmark that was painstakingly carved almost entirely by hand over many decades in the edifice of a large limestone and aether crystal mountain face. It is said that the over-sized artist palette was carved by a race of progenitors that preceded all the current races that exist on Shorti today, and that all the race on Shorti maybe able to trace their linage back to. Whither or Not that is true, the palette itself, seems to be a monument to the gods and goddesses of an ancient religion, a religion that is echoed in the beliefs of the Melicanti.
The monument itself standing over a 6,000 ft tall, and approx 6,000 feet wide. The Palette sits propped up on its side, as if a giant hand had laid it there to take a rest from painting the world into existence. The face of the palette sports nine huge oblong colored aether crystals that have be inlaid into the design. It is said that each of the nine colors is thought to be a representation of one of the nine muses that supposedly created the world.
Prior to the wrath that destroyed, and irradiated, the surface of the world the Palette was a popular landmark, and a pilgrimage site for those who follow the nine muses.
