Findo

The island of Findo is a dangerous and beautiful place where Rosefeathers patrol the open skies and the valuable Onosse wood is found. Few humans have ventured there but some successful expeditions there have revealed the many wonders of Findo and relayed them to the public in the award-winning radio show, Gortham Goes Beyond, on every Wednesday night from 7:00-9:00 Solus Standard Time. Findo is also home to the Red Mountain, and is considered it's own province although no one has ever represented it besides the designated alderman who is chosen by committee.

Geography

Findo is marked by the prominent mountain, called the Red Mountain, on its East side and the grasslands to the west. Between the two landmarks is a pine forest, spreading out from the foothills of the mountain. small rivers and streams bleed like arteries of life from the mountain creating valleys in the foothills of the mountain. From there are floodplains and grasslands until the western coast.

Fauna & Flora

The grasslands are principally saw grass and sweet grass with short trees scattered about the plains. Due to the heat most plants are either grass or shrubs, which make plentiful housing for mice, shew and other rodents. The plains are dominated by a large bird of prey locally called, Rosefeathers, which oppressively hunts the field before retreating to the mountain. Along the rivers in the foothills grow great pine trees, home to arboreal rodents such as squirrels, but also bears which feed on the fish of the rivers. But the further up the mountain you get, the shorter the plants get and the more infrequent the animals become. The Redgrass on the mountain face, which gives the Red Mountain it's name, is supplanted with lichens and moss until at the top it is simply bare stone and Rosefeather nests.

Natural Resources

The Red Mountain provides much of the water used by the wildlife on Findo. The island is also rich in Amber, lumber, and stone, although humans rarely venture there to collect it, because of the danger the Rosefeathers pose. The wood from this island has gained a reputation along with a high price, and is called Onosse Wood.
