Tide's End

Tide's End is the Capital City of the Stormtide Kingdom. The King of the region resides and rules with an iron fist from his castle in the city. It is the main and only port city of an island located in the mouth of the Stormtide Bay opening to the wide ocean. It was built on the then unnamed island(these days the island has become synonymous with the city itself) long ago with the sole intention to become a military and strategical location as the headquarters of the kingdom. The island is mostly barren wasteland with few agricultural benefits. There isn't a whole lot to see on the island outside the city. At the three corners of the island are military encampments that train and house the Stormtide Fleet.   The city itself is in the middle of the island and homes the only publicly accessible port. The variance between the wealthy and the poor is even more notable in Tide's End than in any of the other big cities. This is mostly due to the fact that King Waverend rules very much in a dictator-esque fashion. Of course he has his advisors from his trusted nobles but in the end he controls everything unlike, say, in Palanthas where the King is more of a public figure and the court and senate vote and discuss things.

Demographics

Majority human but almost all races have their minorities and representatives.

Government

Run in an almost dictator-esque fashion by the royal family and it's head King Rawlin Waverend, though he does take some advice from his small council and court of nobles and advisors.

Defences

The city is located in the middle of a relatively small island by the same name as the capital itself in the middle of the Stormtide Bay. On all three corners of the island are military encampments that train and house the Stormtide Fleet.

Industry & Trade

The island and the city itself don't provide very much, so most of the trade ships that travel between the Tide's End harbor and other ports far and wide mostly transport goods toward the Stormtide capital and not from it.

Infrastructure

The city is 'divided' into three sectors. The southernmost sector is the large harbor area, where traders from all around the world make their voyage to transport exquisite delicacies for the rich nobility to consume, as well as basic goods for the less wealthy people.   Those less wealthy people mostly inhabit the Lower Town, which is a bit further inland but still in the immediate vacinity of the waterfront. The people who live and make their businesses in the Lower Town are generally quite poor and the living conditions are quite poor.   Finally, the furthest inland is there more wealthy Upper Town, home to the more wealthy population. Rich merchants, ship captains and nobility make their home here and are guarded by the City Watchmen. The castle along with it's residents can also be found in the middle of the Upper Town.

Guilds and Factions

As with all large cities, especially those ones with a booming port, the waterfront and Lower Town house quite a few outlaws and criminals. Whether they acting on their own or have an organization of similarly minded individuals is uncertain, rumors that such a thing exists have been flying around.   A branch of the Stormtide Traders Organization that hails from Windsail, another city in the Stormtide Kingdom, can also be found here.   Other than that, the City Watchmen and the Royal Guard are not technically part of the Stormtide military but can both be found within the city.

Geography

The city is located on a relatively small island in the mouth of the Stormtide Bay opening toward the open wide ocean.

Natural Resources

The island is mostly very barren rocky wasteland with it's rugged landscape that does not provide much in terms of agriculture.
