Soltaurian Federation

In this reality, Earth's governments banded together under the flag of science and equality by the late twentieth century, and developed a functional lunar base by the year 2011. In this reality, when in 2036 we made first contact with Alpha Centaurians, and were forced to wage a twenty year war against their sister, Proxima Centauri in 2048. In this reality, thirty years later it is 2098 and the systems of Sol and Centauri are still feeling the effects of an interstellar war, but have bonded together under the flags of all three nations in the name of peace and exploration.   Earth is a planet that wages a silent war against itself. When Earth became an interstellar power the World Trade Authority rechristened itself the Terran Trade Authority, but when war first broke out the most powerful force on Earth quickly became the Terran Defense Authority. From anywhere else the planet appears to be at peace, still united under the TTA, but anybody who knows anything knows that the TDA is a dangerously large military festering with the firepower and secrets brewed by a twenty year war. All this not to mention the massive super-corporation defense contractors that work under them, like Avery Aeronautics. The weight of a world grown too small lies on the TTA, their primary goal to seek outward expansion into space quickly enough to stretch the military and the massive corporations thin and quickly impose enough sanctions in order to put the power back into the hands of the people.   Alpha
