The Northern Mountains

The exile walked away from his tribe, straining to contain the storm that raged in his chest. Banished. Banished for wanting peace. The tribe’s most powerful weapon refused to fight, and a weapon who refused to be used was exiled. He could spend the rest of his life wandering the desert, drawing small strings he could sustain himself with. Or he could go north... past the mountains. Maybe... just maybe he could find something, something that he could use sustain his tribe... something to allow them to thrive. No one deserved this life, no one deserved this strife. Absently brandishing his spear, he began to walk north.   The rather crudely named Northern Mountains span the northern edge of Takk'ona. Two human tribes tried entering these mountains in search for a potential better life in the land beyond, but they never returned. Most humans believe that they died crossing it, and are too fearful for their own safety to cross it themselves. No one knows what lies on the other side of the Northern Mountains. Many assumed a great danger lies on the other side, and consider themselves lucky it does not cross to them.

History

For some time no one dared to cross them, until a scout and Sandcaster named Takk'pan, ventured across to see what was really there. On the other side he found a sort of paradise. Food and water was plentiful, and the tribes there had no reason to leave. He also found a physical manifestation of the facet of earth, Takk. He discovered that the present tribes were being kept there to be released into southern Takk'ona once their bretheren down there had died, sufficiently feeding Takk with their bloodshed.   Vowing to stop the bloodthirsty facet, Takk'pan faced his namesake with his allies, the fire Conduit and recently revealed Facet of fire, Syra, and Takk'ara warrior Sethylythes. Takk'pan slew the facet, and took Takk's power, effectively becoming the facet of Earth himself. However, in the brief moment while the power was unhandled, the earth fell into turmoil in an event known as the Shattering.
