Izorr's Journal

Ches, 27th I have just arrived in Kirkfaern. Trouble is already brewing though fascinating details keep emerging. The body of a deceased slayer looks to be afflicted by Shadowfell energies. After asking the party appears to have been ravaged by a Sorrowsworn. A curious and terrible omen. Points to nefarious happenings directed by powerful magics...   There was a business dispute with town representative, Moira Bhodsa. The tabaxi, Josephi Catarovsky, threatened the village in a fit of peak. Emotions are running high. I decided to explore the village more in the hopes of gathering some information and maybe contacting the 'witch' mentioned by the local herbalist. All I concluded was the village was highly mistrustful of Slayers. Fearful of them... I cannot say I blame them, we are formidable but it makes our necessary work here unnecessarily more difficult... I will need to talk more with them in the morning.   I want to check out graveyard. The local Friar Superior mentioned bodies disappearing from the graves at night. Are these grave robbings connected to the other events? If these are separate events... awful to consider.   Ches, 28th Moira saw us again. A lot has happened in but one night...   A mob of dwarven villagers formed and marched on our tavern lodgings. They were responding to the threats of violence and nearly killed the cat. Understandable... I interceded on our behalf and walloped the tabaxi to help defuse the moment. The villagers calmed further with the arrival of the Friar Superior. The peace was sharply broken as I was leading Ilsa Bhodsa Attack by bat-like creature. We had a bit more to bargain with this time. Fairly certain Unclean is a Fleder. Will propose this to Moira. Hope girl is okay. Nasty business...   Krea awoke. Healed completely. Fey magics surround the event. Daphne says she made deal with 'witch' Curious... Krea left soon after.   She seems to trust our expertise a bit more if only out of necessity. Took her to see the corpse. Paid us our due for the Sorrowsworn. Josephi should be contented. Also watched. He means well. Reckless, however.   Set out for the Fleder. Bought cow for bait. Accosted by bandits. Dispatched easily.   Ches, 29th Fleder was killed yesterday. Simple but brutal. Butchered, head removed, and camp was made. Forgot food. Irritatingly short sighted. Amadeus shared with me. Will need to repay the kindness.   Overall, good first hunt. Moira will be pleased the Fleder is gone. Will need to see what wares are available before traveling on. Supplies needed.   Wolves attacked. Dispatched. Returned to Kirkfaren.   Tarsakh, 12th A battle has occurred in the field of Kirkfaern. Unexpected. Recent discoveries also making more sense. Tears in the weave... and a shadowy mirror of our dear Daphne. I have questions but for once I cannot form the proper words to ask... One thing is certain. This village is a center of a moment of destiny... a moment of great power... and I am now involved. The path forward is uncertain, treacherous, and hard to find insight into.   Josiah has kept the shield safe... but I hope the Cat stays away from it. A horrifying vision graced my perception and perhaps signals a possibility... a possibility where he cuts a bloody slash of violence and robbery the world has never seen before... The last thing we need it another complication.   Journal Entry: The last several days have truthfully been rather good for my spirits and my health. My acquisition of necessary spells and magics has gone smooth and my time here in the libraries of the palace have yielded knowledge both entertaining and simply enlightening. That said, troubles still emerge...   These affairs with Marcus have taken my mind and thrown it into a state of ponderousness. Abraham's striving to fuse being and beast are reckless at best and perhaps dangerous at worst... That said, most worthwhile magic is at it's heart and I can hardly judge based solely on my momentary misgivings. Perhaps the terrible truth is that I wish to understand such magics for myself in my long term strivings towards a complete theory of magic.   His devotion to his god of magics also gives me pause. I have, of course, heard of such a being and the myths and legends concerning him. I can see also that magical potency and the power of the Weave do not necessitate a being to control them such as they. As such I worry... Abraham's devotion to this being is not rational nor can it be ignored. Especially when we know so little of the truth of their nature, the nobility of their motivations, and perhaps most hauntingly their honesty pertaining to their identity...   Regardless, things in the city have quieted and our reputation has risen greatly. No doubt we can secure some boons and means by which the keep can be expanded and perhaps we can even gains rights to some lands that may be useful to transfer too utilizing the magical transportation of the keep itself. From what limited research I have done it seems that it will not kill us but it may get us lost if not handled properly... which would likely kill us. Further research must be undertaken into this remarkable ability. A prospect that must be undertaken with great care if we are to succeed... at least if we do not wish to find ourselves floating along in the astral plane being assail by demons and the nastier creatures of the world...
