Descendent of Shi'a (a.k.a. Jabari Obasi)

"The Descendent of Shi'a, Jabari Obasi. Jabari is well known in his homeland for his ascetic lifestyle, sharing things that grace him, and keeping no possessions aside from a cane and his symbiont limb. Were you to ask him for things, he would gladly give them to you: after all, he has a firm belief that the people around him will do good, without any incentive to be."
---An entry from Ke'tlan's journal of Solarian Mythos

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Timepiece

As Jabari is a descendent of the Finder of Time, the timepiece, or clock, holds strong associations with him: personally, he sees time as the "marker of our sentience". His timepiece is usually a Soldial, but sometimes the symbol is that of an hourglass, or even a water clock. The water clock became its own distinct symbol, however.

The Clepsydra

Also known as the water clock, it became a distinct symbol of Jabari due to asceticism's association with pouring water from one vessel to another. The specific clepsydra associated with Jabari, however, is the concentric bowls: a smaller bowl draining into a larger one. As such, Jabari is depicted as Temperance in human Tarot decks.

Tenets of Faith

  1. Learn to forgive those who err: to err is to human, to resent is to corrupt your soul.
  2. Speak only in clear truths: thoroughness leaves no room for unintended resentment.
  3. Keep your mind at ease: violence, rashness, and possessiveness cause an unsound mind.
  4. Consume things moderately: possess only the bare necessities, and give to the less fortunate.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

To test humanity, is Jabari's ultimate goal. How he goes about it is by showing the people his ascetic lifestyle and giving to those less fortunate. To Jabari, honing the amount of self-restraint he has is strengthening his spirit, and believes that, through diligent efforts, he may one day join his ancestor in transcendent deification. He sees death as but another stepping stone towards righteousness, and believes that every creature's death is planned at birth.   Like Orator Ancibul, Jabari Obasi is a descendent of a deified Hero of the Gods, chosen by Their Ancestor for an unspoken Trial of the Gods: a test that pushes the belief system of Their descendent to its extreme. In the case of Jabari, his ancestor was the Discoverer of Time, Shi'a; the trials that Shi'a has in store for him revolve around the injustices that non-human sentients suffer, and whether it will cause him to resort to violence.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Jabari is best characterized by his white, black-streaked coat. Another important feature of his is his Symbiont leg, and the cane that he wields, on the right side of his body. His coat pattern partly resembles that of his ancestor, Shi'a, where it is heavily splotchy with the occasional streaks down the back and towards the front. The fleshy parts of his skin are mottled dark brown and pink, and his chest has t-anchor mastectomy scars.   It is believed that Jabari is a victim of Rot, which is why he has a Symbiont leg in place of one that is his own flesh. Some speculate that the patterning on the body may be caused by the Rot as well, but he says that he has had his coat pattern since before the Rot. Other amputations, such as his chest, are believed to be part of his asceticism.
