The Spire
Situated in the center of the city of Thornbarge, the Spire is the tallest structure in all the known realms, easily visible from great distances away. There are no records of who constructed it, how they did so, when it was built, or even from what. Outwardly, it appears to be carved from a single gargantuan piece of the purest white marble - which of course is impossible, given its sheer size. This leads many to believe that the Spire was instead created with magic. All mystery aside, the Spire serves as a symbol for many. For those who live in its shadow, it exudes comfort and safety. For those who look greedily upon its walls however, it is a seat of unparalleled power.
Architecture
The Spire is roughly 1200 meters tall with a 150 meter diameter footprint. The whole tower is smooth, white marble - utterly seamless and completely unbroken, except for the myriad balconies that protrude from its walls. A vast garden surrounds the tower, around which runs a tall defensive wall. The gardens are filled with all manner of plants and landscapes ranging from low-lying garden beds and lush lawns to graceful willows overhanging gently babbling ponds. Courtyards and water features dot the landscape while mosaic paths meander through the gardens.
The entrance to the Spire is protected by a massive pair of elaborately carved ebony wood doors, roughly 5 meters tall. Surrounding this lies a large courtyard that acts as a relaxed outdoor place for receiving honoured guests - complete with two marble thrones under an ivy-covered trellis for the Lords. Every structure, every path and every bench in the grounds is carved from marble to display the wealth of the Spire.
Fun Fact
From the top of the spire, the horizon would be around 160 kilometers away - a very impressive view.
