Mana and Manology

Mana is one of the fundamental particles of all things in Soirea, along with protons, neutrons and electrons. Manatrons have no charge and are located in the centre of the protons and neutrons. The movement of these manatrons facilitate the movement of atoms, aka, kinetic energy. It is by manatrons that atoms speed up or slow down.

Manology

Manology is he study of mana and its effects. Also known as Yperphysics, since many of mana's effects work opposite to the laws of physics and rationality. Manology differs from average sciences in that it studied by Mages instead of scientists, akin to physiology being studied by athletes instead of phisiologists, ie, it is practiced in the field rather than a lab. Unlike other sciences Manology is more practice than theory.

Manacasting

  Manacasting is the manipulation of Mana and the practical aspect of manology. Those who practice manacasting are called mages and typically employ 3 methods to cast mana: catalysts, sigils and spells. Although potions and alchemy can be considered a method, for now it will be considered otherwise.

Methods

Catalysts
Catalysts are simply names given to objects which allow the user to manipulate mana. They can either be enchanted or made.   Spells
Spells are simply words that when spoken manipulate mana.
Example:Speaking Ignis will cause a fire.   Sigils
Sigils are symbols that when drawn and activated will cause the corresponding spell to activate as well.

Schools

Manacasting is grouped into 6 schools or types of casting:
  • Metamancy- Deals with time, space and unseen factors, such as gravity. Encompasses conjuration and portals.
  • Divination- Allows one to perform what would be considered mystical, such as seeing the future and speaking to the dead.
  • Linguistics- Allows one to speak or understand any language, including animals. Controls and creates words for spells. Grants blessings.
  • Psychomancy- Deals with psychic effects such as illusions memories and dreams.
  • Vitamancy- Deals with medicine and the circle of life and death. A direct opposition to dark Necromancy. Encompasses summoning spirits and healing.
  • Alchemy- Deals with potions and overlaps with vitamancy. The study of magical combinations.
  • Materiamancy- The transformation and manipulation of matter in any of the three stages, encompasses enchantment.
  • Pugnamancy- Magic used for combat and defensive purposes. Encompasses most elemental spells.

Forbidden Arts

There exist schools of manacasting considered too rephrehensible to continue to remain practised. These are:
Dark Necromancy- The manipulation, reanimation and enslavement of souls and corpses to do the user's bidding
Malediction- The unjust placement of curses upon a thing, place or person.
Animancy- The manipulation and reshaping of souls, often considered sacrilegious towards the God of Life himself.
Hematomancy- The manipulation of blood and by extension the manipulation of a person's muscles.
Infernomancy- The manipulation of infernal energy, used by the followers of the 7 demons of sin and is in direct opposition to the Celestials and Gods.
Anti-magic- The destruction of manatrons and subsequently the cancellation of mana and manacasting. Considered extremely dangerous as no destroyed manatrons have ever been found to reassemble.

Manifestation

Mana in nature often times causes things to defy physics, example, floating rocks, waterfalls moving upwards, etc. The concentration of mana in an area affects the distortion of logic in that area. The mana concentration across Soirea is incredibly irregular, with areas of little mana being located directly nest to areas of a lot of mana.   Despite the wide range of effects of mana, some environmental patterns include:
  • Floating rocks and objects and other gravitational anomalies in mana concentrated areas.
  • Duller plant and grass colour in mana defecit areas.
  • Larger trees in mana concentrated areas.
  • Small glowing orbs within mana concentrated areas often mistaken for lampflies.
  • The inside of plants have an iridescent shine.

Localization

Due to the irregular distribution of mana concentration within Soirea, there are certain areas of nations that are mana defecit areas, and, very rarely, dead areas. 
  Among the nations of Soirea, Scintillante, Komorebi, Yuexia, Khamaseen, Akasha and Macheo are considered the most overall mana concentrated while Auratia, Eadland, Terracoratta and Dabulstan are the least.

I love how you've built a scientific basis for magic, blending it seamlessly with the world's natural laws. The distinction between theoretical study and practical application in Manacasting is particularly fascinating. The schools of magic and the forbidden arts provide a great deal of depth, and I’m especially drawn to the environmental effects of mana on the world. The way mana distorts physics and creates anomalies in nature gives the world such a unique feel. Can't wait to see how this system plays out in practice!
