<One-shot> Rescue mission on Kavaladi

-A one shot for high level characters along with the queen's (Princess Snake) personal knight and spy- Ophelia Cercei. This mission will show the queen's extreme pragmatism, Ophelia's breakdown and the island cruelty as a foil to the queens- one has justifications for itself, the other side accepts the world as it is and survives in the best possible way. Both sicken Ophelia, even if one is better than the other.   -The challenges the party will face are as follows: they will have to sneak to the island by boat, get past the assassin's guild guards and "The yellow danger" members, find the storehouse where the slaves are located and get them to safety.   -They will face guards, magical protection and alert systems, a minor god "The black son" as well as Ophelia's mental breakdowns and psionic power that is getting out of control.   -They will have the help of Ophelia herself, as well as their ship captain- Yuko, a one eyed black tabaxi wild magic sorcerer (works under lady Kiti, a favor that Ophelia is cashing from the pirate captain. That favor was keeping her mouth shut, Ophelia doesn't say who Yuko is related to).   -Narratively speaking, what do I want from this one shot? To learn about the mad queen listening to intently so her paladins or going crazy on her own, doing the right thing with all the wrong reasons. About Kavaladi, an island of killers and murderers too far to be controlled- they are to be ignored or eliminated. However all of the innocents on the island will go down with them, as there is nothing else there. I want the party to kill the dark god and feel no satisfaction for doing so, as they have solved nothing with his death. If they don't kill him, they take away the little bit of reprieve that his death would have brought Ophelia, and incur her breakdown- and final shutting down.   They will see the hate Ophelia harbors for her queen, calling her by her slur, blaming everything on her before "coming around" to logic. But she will lie if they try to reason with her, as she is too far gone in her hatred already.

Relations

Adversaries

-The yellow danger company: a large conglomerate, most of Fjardar archipelago's trade goes through representatives of the company. They mostly just take taxes and assert dominance, but they do have two exports of their own- bananas and slaves. In order to divert attention form their shady business, they promote themselves as providers of a unique and rare fruit for the entire world. Bananas can only be found in Kavaladi, the company's home island, and as such are very valuable. However the real money comes from slaves- the Nohrian empire pays generously for slaves, which they use for experiments, labor or private butlers.    The company's power structure is as follows-  Beck Schubert: the head of the company and a halfling. a power hungry individual who inherited a profitable business model from his predecessor before he killed him so he wouldn't have to settle for being the partner. He brought to the table a large navy force form his home island, Smolnesk and he uses that to surround Kavaladi, where he currently resides. Intrested in making money and long jevity, his sole concern is keeping his business afloat- he knows that powerful people will be after him if he can't defend himself. In order to get his navy he seduced than betrayed the powerful pirate captain and leader of the Desert Leopards, nicknamed Angeline.    The black son: the son of Lona, the patreon kami of Kavaldi. She is a goddes of cycles of death and rebirth, volcanos and bounty. As there is very little bounty she is also considered the goddes of bananas and volcanos. Her son was summoned at the prayer of Beck's former partner, the human Connie Underhill. He struggeled with unwanted attention from Ranculo's small navy and he suspected Beck's motivations, so he prayed to his home goddes for help. She sent the black son- her child that represented death in the cycle, a rutheless warrior bent on death and destruction. Luckily for Connie, he also used a magic scroll <Planar binding> to force the kami to obey him, and act as a overqualified bodyguard. Beck took the scroll when he killed Connie in his sleep, and has been using it to control the reluctunt black son, who couldn't really care less who was controling him as long as he could butcher things.

Backdrops

Encounters

Encounter design:   -Ship stealth encounter: Ophelia will pose as a company member, will bring costumes for everyone else. Need to create a distraction so they won't have to dock in the harbor. One patrol ship, containing 4 company members +1 company member riding an island wyvern (a wyvern with yellow lines drawn on it)   -Island layout: the island has dangerous coves with powerful aquatic predators in the back <An aboleth> and a harbor crawling with company members in the front. In the middle there is the Lonna's Volcano, at it's feet is the company premises- the storehouses, the barracks, the armory, the banana greenhouse and the slave's dungeons. Around the volcano and company premises are the rural districts- poor villages "protected" by company members. In the middle of the company premises is the statue "Lonnie"- Lonna's giant mech statue, tall enough to be seen from the rural district.    -In any given rural district are 3d8 company memebrs and 1d4 company memebers riding wyverns, spread throught the district. The company premises is surrounded by a 25ft. (7.5 meters) tall stone wall, with 5 gates   -Around the premises are the elite guards: 2d6 company memebers and 1d4+2 Kavaladian assassins, the latter group split between the banana greenhouse and the slave's dungeons. As reinforcements, after 2-3 rounds 1d6 company memebers riding wyverns, followed by Beck Schubert riding a wyvern to jump into Lonnie's statue 1 round later, followed by the black son joining combat 1 round after that.
