The Silent Ones' Gifts: The Arcane - Abridged

"Long ago, the Silent Ones emerged from the Ocean of Light and found this land astray in Oblivion. Seeing the mortals so lost left the Silent Ones saddened. In their guiding generosity, they set out to bestow Slaitoraph a gift: a wellspring of the essence of the Aether. This task proved laborious, but not impossible. In the end, all they could each bring back was a drop. Nevertheless, they had acquired their gifts for the mortals. Each one gave their six drops. In their narrow success, the Gods imparted their gifts upon the land. The drops dissipated throughout the world, granting the mortals a fraction of the Gods' powers to use as their own. To not use the gift of the Gods is to deny what they gave."

This story is BS. It was originally made up by the Silent Ones. 
It actually went: 
The Arcanist fell in from another world, accidentally bringing in pure quintessence with him as he uncontrollably exudes it. He's like a shitty tap basically. He stayed in the land for a while, so he brought enough with him that it spread across the entire world and has a rather large overall mass. 
The Silent Ones are humans from the Reflection when it had life in it. Literally no one is from the "Ocean of Light". The Arcane is basically there on accident. No one gave it as a gift, but people have learnt to use it.
