The Edge of Obscurity - Blademaster Academy

The most infamous Blademaster school in all of Osfilia is nestled in the center of a series of enormous caverns, where roiling mist curls up from the seemingly bottomless depths. Joking called the Edge of Obscurity by Haradim the Guileless, one of the most reknowned blademasters in the school’s history, the name stuck and became if not official, at least recognized by its memebers.
The Honored Masters who run this ancient school are believers in a simple credo - One devotes their life to the blade. Their code of honour states that if a blade’s only purpose is to take life, the welders life must in turn be given over in service to the blade. Students are housed in the massive stone fortress that has served as the school's grounds for generations. They live in individual rooms with nothing but a cot and a washbasin. They may bring only a single item of personal significance. The school provides the rest - clothes, training material, school supplies, Masters to teach and Golems to practice against.
Young blade apprentices train day and night, working through forms and hundreds of techniques from all across Osfilia. At the age of 12, they compete in The Dueling, where each group of apprentices fights their fellow student to the death, until only two from each group remain. All students who survive the training are Blademaster-class specialists, though there is a secret internal ranking system. Students are welcome to choose any single school of the blade once accepted, and are coveted as elite soldiers or personal guards for those who can afford such services. Many go on to be famous adventurers.
The school specifically does not preach good or evil, but is more concerned with balance, and so it has remained neutral through many wars and power struggles. Legend has it that some of The Storm King’s finest soldiers were trained here, and those same legends say an equal number of Blademasters were among the heroes of the Covenant of All.
