Dallamor

The citizens of Dallamor are famous for three things; the freedom of their people, their massive airships, and their heroic Skywatchers. Dallamor airships are synonymous with power and are built to be the largest and sturdiest vessels in the sky. Manning these ships are Dallamor’s military elite; the famed Skywatchers. There is not a pirate in Osfilia whose blood doesn't run cold when spying the Skywatcher’s flag snapping in the sky.   Dallamor is a young Nation, founded out of desperation from a coalition of races and pulled out of the ruins of a number of states during the Sky Wars. Powerful military leaders and rich merchants, who felt their former governments had failed them during the Storm King’s rise, banded together to form a nation of free folk focused on military and economic might, with a foundation of democracy and openness. Employing Dwarves, Gnomes, and the smartest folk of any race, Dallamor pioneered the first airships and took to the sky to battle the Storm King’s forces.   Preferring to focus on technology (whether magical or otherwise) and structure over the more individualistic heroics of mages, paladins, and Dragoons, Dallamor created a military force known as the Skywatchers. This force was built from thousands of ordinary people who volunteered for intense training, becoming the fear of the skies and helping drive back the Storm King's armies.   In the years following the Sky Wars and as Dallamor grew in size and influence, the Skywatchers became the law of the skies. Battling piracy and upstart nations who dare to threaten the freedom of Dallamor, the Skywatchers use their well deserved infamy to strike fear into any who would dare oppose them, a list which seems to grow daily. Both internally from power-hungry politicians and externally from older nations who despise the upstart, Dallamor is under constant threat, to which they react with immediate force.   The government of Dallamor is run by elected officials, almost all of which are former military leaders, with a few of the rich elite. While all citizens are considered free folk, only those who have chosen to serve time in the military are given full voting and land-owning rights. Because of this, almost all citizens perform a minimal military service.   Dallamor has a vast and robust trading economy, helped in large part by the knowledge of merchants that the skies over the country are safe for travel. Continued support and funding for new magical technologies means Dallamor is able to compete militarily and economically with much larger and well established countries.   Bards tell stories of the airship Stonehaven, a ship crewed almost exclusively by men and women who joined the Skywatchers together after the town that bears its name was destroyed in the early days of the wars. Captained by a young farmers son, the Stonehaven saw action in almost every air battle of the latter part of the Sky Wars and was instrumental in killing the dragon Darkwing, who was second in size only to the infamous Coldwraith.
