Jonah

The Foremen are chosen at young ages from the Surfs, and are raised in the Spire until they are 10 years old. While in the Spire, their entire lives are dedicated to the Faith and serving those who are higher up then them (which is everyone) they are also chorus boys. Women are never Foremen. At 10, they move to the Formen headquarters where their technological and law training begins. Their days are full of religion, learning the rule of law, (an abbreviated and modified) history in order to serve the Faith and the people of the dome. Jonah is 37 and has been serving as a Foremen since he was 21. He turned grey in his twenties, so looks much older than his years, his build is strong and intimidating, and his deep devotion to the Faith keeps him strict but also humble. He’s slowly been moving up the ranks as other Foremen have retired, and has spent more and more time at the head quarters rather than making rounds to the other communities. He was there when the Ekonians first arrived at the Entrance, but before he could really get to know them, he was called off on duty to go to another colony. Upon his return, he found the Ekonians set up in their settlement and making themselves comfortable. These aliens to the Community have never been seen before and Jonah doesn’t know how to react. He is first afraid, but also curious, for what do outsiders mean? The fear is from a human instinct to be afraid of the unknown, but not based in any facts that he sees. He observed from a distance, and notices too late that the Ekonians have strange magic that they should not have.
