Lord Marxos Cairo

Lord Marxos Cairo is one of many lords of Skeyer, responsible for the upkeep of the people of the entrance district. Married rather unhappily to Lady Ronwen Kels-Cairo, a woman of noble descent from another sector, the Lord has long been focused on maintaining the walls of this district specifically due to his proximity to the Foremen headquarters. Wishing not to breed resentment from the Foremen or doubt of virtue from the Faithful, Cairo makes sure to reward dutiful serfs well with rations and to withhold payment to slacking workers. Like his father, he was born into nobility and the position of power he is currently in now, and has had much tutelage from his family and the Faithful in the usage of Essence, and has grown accustomed to maintaining a surplus of rations and resources to help support his community, and is often seen as a plentiful and benevolent leader, although he is also seen as strict and abrasive.

With the arrival of the Ekonians in his district, Cairo has the responsibility of overseeing their stay in the camps on the edge of the district. At first, he was excited by their arrival and eager to show his dominance to them by providing them with rations and basic living arrangements, but was greatly frustrated by them when finding that they were far more proficient in the use of Essence than he was and able to provide for themselves. At first he tried to remain calm and see if he could learn anything of importance from them, but now he sees many of the Ekonians as a challenge to his authority rather than as wise travelers.
