The Breakoff

A coming of age ritual for the Fungi Folk Fungi folk
When a Child in a Fungi Folk colony reaches maturity, she will break off from her Mother's mycelium for the first time and migrates to a new place and create her own mycelium and Children in a new sub colony.
When a Child of the Fungi Folk breaks off from The Mother she loses her mycelium until she settles down to form her own. During the time in between she will be extremely vulnerable, having lost her main sense. She will then rely on her secondary sense, using her magic as a means of echolocation. 
This is a consequential part of a Fungi Folk creature's life cycle and is celebrated as such.
Using heavy symbolism of death, since death is in a way is a metaphor for life to them. The life of the Fungi Folk being created from the corpse of a witch, and a new "sister colony" being created from the "death" of their deep connection together.
