Humans

hile humans permeate most of the kingdoms in the material plane it’s difficult to say what their united identity is. Much less than in Dwarves and Elves the separate groups of humans can be divided into sub-races. Most differences are cultural rather than physical, even though some physical features can differentiate between the groups.   Northern Humans The humans in the North are mostly settled in Sebya, Nemya and north of Lequinet. They are used to a colder climate and have spent most of their known history living as nomadic tribes. In more recent history towns and villages have started to spawn in places where nature was more forgiving or where the natural resources allowed them to nourish a larger population. They are often, though not exclusively, light skinned and haired. With eye colours in the green and blue spectrum. The harsh conditions that these societies thrived in make them more strong headed than other humans in Siriande. Often seen as abrasive in the other regions of the continent due to their tendency to speak their minds and do away with niceties. Like their personalities they have learned to live with a minimum amount of frills. Their clothing and housing always puts function above form.   Southern Humans Southern humans center around large settlements in Eneih, Ilwyni Illongau and the South of Sebya. Before the fall a large concentration of them resided in Telenholm. The displaced population of Telenholm now largely resides on the southern island of Ilwyni Illongau. Physically they are usually darker skinned, with dark hair and darker hues of eyes. Due to a higher amount of luxury available to them they are generally taller (though usually less buff) than humans from other regions. They tend to use language to impress, putting the social before the practical. The same goes for their dwellings and their clothing. Aesthetic is usually as important to them as function and especially in the larger cities you can very easily distinguish their nobles by their elaborate choices in clothing.   Western Humans The western humans hail mostly from Lequinet. From there they branched out into the Dragonborn controlled Demoran and isolated pockets in the Elven forests of Ondath'cinna. Their skin colours range from pale to dark, in a few different hues. Their hair is equally varied, though it is the only group that has large concentrations of redheads. The western humans are heavily influenced by outside cultures. Especially in the huge trade towns like Verslun. Their clothing and art can be mistaken by laymen for Elven and Dragonborn items. Most of their economy revolves around trade, of both information and goods, between groups that don’t care to deal with each other directly. As a people they are very hospitable and open, very quick in treating strangers as close friends.   Deserters There are those humans that choose to ignore the bounds of their homelands, or those that were born in Telenholm. Some search for freedom that cannot be granted under rule of a king, some search for a place where they are away from prosecution or from the military draft. They live in the desert lands beyond the mountains of Eneih, past the protective shield of Enyaltelen, in the desert wasteland of what once was Telenholm. Wild, anarchistic, bands of humans only loosely allied with each other. They come from all over Siriande and as such physically could look like any of them. Their appearance is influenced by their circumstance, though. Ragged clothes, or mismatched armour. Suntanned skin, for those from the colder climates. The other thing they have in common is that they have found a way to survive in the lifeless sandflats of Telenholm. And the odd thing is, most of them go there on their own volition.
