Aludri/Aludar

Basic Information

Anatomy

Aludri are easily recognizable by their massive wings protruding from their backs. They are fairly short statured, the tallest of which was a record 5 foot 11 inches when standing at full height. Other notable features include their more birdlike legs and feet, large fluffy ears, and oval pupils.   Being more birdlike than other winged species, the Aludri have a wide variety of wing shapes and patterns. While the most common of them are more crowlike passive soaring wings, many do show other types of wings. High speed wings like those seen in falcons, long active soaring wings like in gulls, and even more batlike wings have been seen more and more often in recent years.   While they share many characteristics with their more feathered counterparts, one seemingly strange oddity is the lack of a tail. Many biologists believe that they used to have them, but over time they lost them and now mostly use their legs to achieve the same result.

Biological Traits

Females are typically larger and stronger then males and normally have color in bands on their wings. They also frequently have different wing and muscular strucures depending on the type of wings they were born with.

Ecology and Habitats

They typically live in the mountains or the sky cities. They are hunter-gatherers and thrive in scarce environments.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They hunt anything that moves. The most common method of attack is from above, Tracking their prey while in flight, then either diving at them or shooting them with a bow while still in midair.

Biological Cycle

They will often migrate for extended periods. In the colder tempertures, the will molt their fethers into warmer ones, and the opposite in warmer climates.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

They have more angular features with moderately sized eyes and large feathered ears. Their pupils are larger than humans, and slightly eliptical. This allows them to adjust to changing light levels more quickly. They also allow for them to see things from much further away, which helps them in hunting from above.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They typically live at high elevations like mountains, or large flat areas like plains or savannas.

Average Intelligence

They are incredibly smart, right around the same level as humans if not smarter.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Unlike their human counterparts, Aludri have in internal compass and clock, allowing them to tell the time and where they are in relation to others. Their eysight is also improved greatly, easily comparible to that of a falcon or eagle.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

The Aludri name their young with names that invoke have a greater meaning, or names that can easily be pronounced by other species. They will usually be written in Sineran Draco, and will usuall be chosen by the Aludri in question.

Relationship Ideals

Aludri will commonly mate multiple times in their lives, but not because of jelousy or lust. Since they are immortal, they will eventully change and sometimes change to the point where the relationship doesnt work. They will then unceremoniosly separate and go their own ways.

Average Technological Level

The Aludri used to have a high technoligical level before the war. When they were forced to leave their homes they lost that. Now they use more traditional tools and weapons while still developing more advanced techniques. They recently redesinged the modern firearm and use it in their hunting practices.

History

The Aludri were first discovered in the decades leading up to the Thousand Year War. Back then they were a far more diverse species with many different types pf wings and skin tones. They had a close connection to the Dragons, however they remained neutral trhought the war. Midway through the war, They allied with the dragons due to their dwindiling numbers. In return they were gifted with Immortality. From then on they have lived amongst the Dragons.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

This varies from group to group, however they are often kind and helpful. They will frequently trade resources for inormation from other civilatations.
