The Serpent's Relliquary

Many centuries ago a small sect of dark cultists are said to have discovered the fossilized heart of the The World Serpent.  This heart is said to be a gemstone of the deepest purple with a deep light glowing and pulsing within it as if the heart still beat.  The cultists are said to have forged a number magical reliquary using the shards of the heart which granted them great power.  Over time this cult started spreading throughout Kelia using their power to convert others and sacrifice victims to the heart for power.  Eventually the cult grew big enough to draw the notice of governments and churches and the entire cult was hunted down and destroyed. Only one piece of the Serpent's Reliquary was ever recovered and it was locked away in a hidden location to prevent its use.
