Sigma Aquarii

It has been 300 years since first contact has been made with Etheria, a planet home to humans elves dwarves and many other races thought only fantasy. Etheria had been forced into modern society by the greedful desires of the githyanki, They had discovered an endless source of energy, capable of revolutionizing the galaxy as they knew it. Known to the etherians as the weave. The Gith were stopped by the arrival of the Qual, one of the leading races in the galaxy they made contact and offered aid to the etherians in their entrance to a society beyond imagination, Etherians welcomed this assistance and etherians began their entrance to society and many of the races jumped at the opportunity to move to the stars seeing this as new a opportunity. Humans (being humans) quickly spread throughout the galaxy, not to the point of commonality but to the point where you could find at least one in most places, many of the other races did the same, gravitating to the imperial systems (systems ran by a series of houses owning a number of systems under their jurisdiction) due to their relative freedom. Elves are one of the few races that largely remained on etheria not feeling the desire to leave their ancestral home, there are many who do leave for possibilities of adventure but largely they will eventually find themselves returning. Then there are the Drow, two of the Drow families using their longetivity to their advantage, the houses Auvrendar and Duskyrn took over several systems and solidified their presence in the galaxy, many other drow found their way to the planet of Qual, where their surface fit their conditions well, many were peaceful, looking for a place away from the drow culture, but naturally there were others who didn't feel the same. As with the races of etheria came the others, Vampires Illithids Devils and others also found their way into the galaxy, not numerous enough to cause emergency but they exist. Those who were able to use magic found themselves unable to do so, a solution was found however when a magic user brought a sliver of pure weave energy with them, using it as a focus found themselves able to use magic, thus most who use magic require to carry one with them. This was dangerous however, a sliver of the weave was incredibly expensive and can also be used to power all sorts of machines incredibly efficiently, this discovery also lead to Etheria deciding to remain independent once their assimilation was complete, with the use of Weave energy Etherians were able to power their ships and weapons as well as utilizing the uncharted systems surrounding them, and formed the Independent Etherian Systems.
