Illegal Gods

Evil Gods

According to Origin Federation decree, all Gods who are associated with evil acts or mindsets are not permitted to be worshipped. The ownership of paraphernalia related to any of these gods is punishable by time in prison or death, depending on the severity of guilt. The following gods are not permitted to be worshiped within Shresta.

Boccob - God of Magic

Boccob was once seen as the god of light magic. They were revered by many practitioners of the arcane arts. Worship of Boccob became illegal after the Fall of Arcana.
The symbol of Boccob is an eye within a pentagram.

Wejas - God of Magic

Unlike Boccob, Wejas was always considered a god of evil magic due to their association with necromancy and illusion. The worship of Wejas has been illegal for nearly seven millennia.
The symbol of Wejas is that of a red skull with a crown of flames.

Erythel - God of Envy

The god of envy was once worshipped both by the envious and the envied. Some prayed Erythel would take away their envious thoughts, others prayed to be given what they were envious of; either way, this morally grey god was banished by Origin Federation law around 1000 P.F.
Erythel is symbolized by a green teardrop.

Hextor - God of War

Considered to be the cousin of Hieroneous and Pholtus, Hextor is the god of brutal combat, bloodshed and violence in the name of war. Hextor is worshipped by raiders, rouge warriors, and cultures that consider victory in combat to be of high regard.
The symbol for Hextor is six arrows pointing down in a fan shape.

Incabulo - God of Famine and Plague

Incabulo has long been seen as an evil god. Outlawed around the same time as Wejas, the god of famine and plague was often sought out by farmers and land barons looking to curse their neighbors or enemies.
The symbol of Incabulo is that of an eye with a diamond pupil.

Iuz - God of Pain and Oppression

Iuz is a god favored only by those with the cruelest intentions: dictators, slavers, the power-hungry, and torturers. All who wish for slow death and complete dominion may find themselves at the mercy of the god of pain and oppression.
Iuz is symbolized by a red dagger dripping blood.

Nerull - God of Death

Considered to be the most neutral among the evil gods, Nerull is the god of the dead and of death itself. Prior to around 2350 A.F. it was very common for all people to have a small shrine dedicated to Nerull, honoring their dead along with the god. This practice fell out of fashion during the 2400's A.F. and became illegal after the Fall of Arcana when restructuring took place.
Nerull's symbol is a skeletal hand over a red heart.

Tharizdun - God of Eternal Darkness

Prior to the Fall of Arcana, the god of eternal darkness was much more prominent among scientists and scholars. Up until recently Tharizdun worship was only considered mildly taboo, in 3799 P.F. the worship was completely criminalized under Origin Federation law.
The symbol of Tharizdun is that of a spiral with five layers.

Vecna - God of Evil Secrets

Unique among all other gods on this list, the worship of Vecna has always been illegal. While labeled as the god of "evil secrets", Vecna is best known for being a god that makes bad deals with desperate people.
Vecna is symbolized by a hand with an eye in its palm.

Trithereon - God of Rebellion

Similarly to Tharizdun, Trithereon was recently criminalized. Formerly known as the "god of liberty and retribution", the Temples of Pholtus and Hieroneous redacted that name, replacing it with "god of rebellion". Commonly worshiped among the nomadic tribes of Shresta's wildlands, the god of rebellion has come to represent freedom and anti-society.
The symbol of Trithereon is a triskelion (three joined spirals).
