Vedeir

"Bing was born in the winter the day after an ice storm. As a result, he is extremely pale, his hair is thick, and even [75 degrees Fahrenheit / 24 degrees Celsius] is "a little too hot" for him. Since the day he was born was one of low humidity (as all the moisture had fallen to the ground, frozen), his hair is straight."

Basic Information

Anatomy

Vedeirs are mammalian humanoids with their adult height ranging from 4 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 8 inches. They are bipedal, walking on their back limbs (legs). They use their front limbs (arms) to interact with the world in too many ways to list.

Genetics and Reproduction

Vedeir reproduction is very similar to human reproduction.   Weather affects vedeir development in an epigenetic sense: during the third trimester, the vedeir fetus begins to adapt to the climate where the expecting mother lives.

Growth Rate & Stages

Vedeir growth is very similar to Human growth. Newborn vedeirs are helpless compared to many other species. Children are very quick to learn. Puberty can begin at any time between age 9 and age 15. While there is some debate over when vedeirs become fully mature, the consensus falls within the range of 16 to 25 years of age.   Newborn vedeirs complete adapting to their climate at two weeks of age.

Ecology and Habitats

While vedeirs, like Humans and Obas, can survive and thrive in a multitude of climates, what is notable is how individual vedeirs adapt to their first climates to the detriment of thriving in dissimilar climates.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Vedeirs have two eyes, a nose, a mouth, and two ears. Their eyes are forward-facing, with one eyebrow over each eye. Their ears are located on the sides of their heads. While all vedeirs can potentially grow facial hair, the ones who are born into cooler climates are much more likely to do so.

Civilization and Culture

Gender Ideals

Though this varies across cultures, many vedeir societies do not have a strong sense of gender distinction. To most vedeirs, people are people, so why wouldn't they contain variance? One's height, body hair, skin color, and reproductive system may be different than someone else's, but everybody has one.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

A near-universal custom across vedeir ethnicities and cultures is outdoor childbirth or open-roof childbirth. This is done so the newborn baby can adapt to the surrounding climate and weather conditions as soon as possible.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Vedeirs share the same level of sapience with humans and obas.
