Pygmy Wyvern

Cute, clever, and curious enough to learn and love. But still, mind the teeth.

A native to the Western Desert, this tiny cousin of the wyvern grows to be just over 30 cm long from snout to tailtip, and has abandoned much of the ferocity of its larger ancestors for caution and curiosity. In the wild they live in small packs near water sources, where they eat anything: plants, insects, frogs, lizards, and small mammals alike. The sight of a pygmy wyvern is considered excellent luck by most most Acroshian travelers.
However, despite their colorful, whimsical appearance, pygmy wyverns are trappable, quite trainable, and a common sight amongst the truly affluent nobles of Seth, some keeping small colonies of the creatures as an indicator not only of vast wealth but cosmopolitan disposition. Though the creatures are much more relaxed than their enormous, pack-hunting kin, they are not quite as docile as their wide-eyed, expressive features suggest; pygmy wyverns do not make good pets for young children.
Familiar spirits in Acroshia are able to take the form of a pygmy wyvern.
