Yakuza Kumi War Ends

Shotozumi clan retains power. Shigeda uprising crushed.

The Yakuza Civil War comes to an end when oyabun Takeo Shigeda of the Yī jīzhóu (New Way) is killed. Oyabun Hanzo Shotozumi of the Koryū (Old School) offers amnesty to the remaining clans loyal to the Shigeda. An uneasy peace is reached, but Hanzo has little to show for it. He is old, and all three of his sons were killed in the final days of the war. The Yakuza is now weakened and fractured, and with no successor to the very old Hanzo, the Shotozumi family’s ability to hold the fractured clans together may fall at any time.
