Black Furies

Hailing from ancient Greece and undoubtedly responsible for that land's legendary Amazons, the Black Furies tribe consists almost entirely of female Garou. The only males that are welcome are Metis, and even then only those born to the tribe; a male Metis of another tribe joining the Furies is simply unheard of. Many of the other tribes - particularly the Get of Fenris and Shadow Lords- write off the Black Furies as nothing more than "warrior women," but nothing could be farther from the truth. The Black Furies do not see themselves as mere warriors: They are a force of nature, acting to right wrongs done against women and, through them, Gaia. Men who do not understand the proper way of things might commit these wrongs, or the Wyrm itself might cause them. To the Furies, it makes no difference: The souls of these defilers' victims cry out for retribution, and they are retribution's vehicle.

Tribal Trait - Mothers Rage

Black Furies are matriarch of the highest order and are instinctually protective of children and other women. Due to this a Black Fury adds the following additional Circumstances to its Rage Table (note this Tribal Trait is active regardless of the amount of Rage the Fury possess):

Background

All Black Furies follow the rules bellow during character creation:
  • Tribal Totem: Pegasus
  • Matriarchs: A Black Fury must always be female. The only exception to this are male Metis. This rule also applies later in the game as the game as the Tribal Totem will only ever accept females into its Tribe or male Metis born to Black Furies (Metis not born to the Black Furies will still be denied).
  • Fierce: The Black Furies Frenzy Difficulty is always one point higher than normal.
  • Unbent and Unbroken: Start the game with an additional point of Willpower.
  • Gifts of the Pegasus: Chose a single permanent Level 1 Black Furies Tribal Gift for your character to possess.

Camp

A Black Fury may chose to belong to one of the following Camps within her Tribe. This is an optional choice the character can take and should really only be taken by characters of Rank 2 or greater.

Amazons of Diana

The Amazons of Diana are a group of Furies that are more concerned with being brash, unstoppable warrior women than sacred avengers. This camp is rarely seen as a formal group, and is more a catch-all for those more dedicated to rightly proving themselves the equal of any man in combat against the Wyrm. Some within the camp see it as necessary to bring the Furies into the 21st century and away from their pointless and archaic practice of pursuing criminals, but Garou who simply hate all males tend to gravitate to the Amazons as well.
  • Bonus: Add a 1 Point Bonus to all combat rolls when fighting a male Garou.
  • Negative: Increase your Frenzy Difficulty as 1 point higher than normal (this is combined with the Fierce Background).

Avenging Mother

The Avenging Mother is a very small subsect that works to bring down the patriarchal structures of the Garou Nation and Tribes like the Silver Fangs by exploiting their trust.
  • Bonus: Add a 1 point Bonus to all Subterfuge or Persuasion rolls made against members of any other Tribe, aside from the Black Furies.
  • Negative: Your Honor rating is capped at 4.

Bacchantes

In contrast to the Amazons, the Bacchantes are a conservative faction that pursues the Furies' original sacred purpose: avenging wrongs against women and children with fanatical zeal and merciless violence. They believe that in doing so, they fight the Wyrm's hold over humanity and avenge Gaia herself.
  • Bonus & Negative: when it comes to the modified Rage table under the Tribal Trait - Mothers Rage, you count all women (regardless of relation) as being related to you.

Freebooters

The Freebooters' mission is to find new Wyld places that can be consecrated to Gaia and opened as caerns. This movement is shrinking because there are so few Wyld places left in the world. A fraction of Freebooters believe they need to find a new body for Gaia elsewhere in the Umbra, somewhere the Wyrm has not yet found.
  • Bonus: Your Permanent Gnosis rating is increased by 1.
  • Negative: Anytime you fail to pursue a tangible clue about an abandoned or undiscovered Caern you suffer a 3 Point loss to your Honor rating.

Moon-Daughter

Moon-Daughters seek to spread Gaia's worship through New Age neo-paganism, and they push themselves to keep Gaia's spirit alive through change, embodying the force of the Wyld as best they can. Their ritual methods change as quickly as New Age fashions change.
  • Bonus: You start the game with at least 1 dot in Scalable advantages - Followers. This dot can be combined with other dots in the same advantage (provided you meet the requirements).
  • Negative: You gain a 1 dot Flaw - Compromised Identity.

Order of Our Merciful Mother

The Order of Our Merciful Mother is among the most derided camps within the Tribe. Acting subtly to bring others' dogma closer to a version that respects Gaia and women, the Order works to reform human society and Christianity by utilizing their own tools against them. They take credit for the rising popularity of the Virgin Mary.
  • Bonus: Add a Specialization to Occult and Academics - Christianity.
  • Negative: Your Wisdom rating is capped at 4.

Sisterhood

The Sisterhood began as a network to protect Kinfolk, women, and Garou from the Inquisition and get them to safety. Today they manage the various Kinfolk networks of the Tribe, offering succor to them and informing other Tribe members when a Kinfolk has been wronged by a man's hands. They are also adept at gathering resources for the Tribe to use.
  • Bonus: You start the game with 3 dots in Contacts which you can distribute amongst the Kinfolk of any Tribe (excluding Black Spiral Dancers).
  • Negative: At least 1 dot worth of resources or $100 must go towards charitable actions aimed at protecting women. If this cannot be met the Bonus is at risk of being permanently lost.
  • Advice: You should take at least 2 dots in Resources during character creation.

Temple of Artemis

The Temple of Artemis is among the oldest camps, and one of the most conservative. They counsel a withdrawal from the Garou Nation, and rededicating the Furies to their original purpose as the avengers of women. They also act as judges to Furies who have broken tribal customs.
  • Bonus: Start the game with an additional dot in Renown in any 1 of the 3 Categories.
  • Negative: You receive a 1 Point Penalty on all Social rolls when it comes to male Garou of other Tribes.
