Demons Of The Burning Night: Part Three

General Summary

The garks are soon beaten back but the snarling creatures seem reluctant to leave and very distantly the companions can make out the howls and bellows of yet more of the bestial man-like creatures; the sound of battle has drawn more out of the surrounding jungle. However, they scatter as a large winged serpent descends on the ziggurat, a wyvern has also been drawn by the sounds of steel and magic. Cran bravely draws the creature away from his companions as they all head for what they hope will be the safety of the ancient temple ruins. Climbing to the top of the low platform there is no obvious escape from the hissing wyvern and it hurls itself at Cran.   Unable to land a telling blow on the fighter, the wyvern soon finds itself surrounded and begins to take to the air perhaps to escape. In an instant and perhaps without much thought, Sylke transports herself onto the creatures back, a full forty-feet above ground! As her friends watch on in amazement, she deftly electrocutes the creature as Cran and Cherry bury telling arrows into the monster's head and it crashes to the ground. Miraculously, Sylke rolls free relatively unscathed!   Gathering themselves on top of the temple, the party are now confronted with a complex puzzle that presumably controls the opening of an upper dais, a way in?\
The puzzle consists of a number of lights that are toggled between a lit and an unlit state as the characters step on them. To make matters worse, some of the panels connected also change their state. After some twenty minutes have elapsed, the party are no nearer completing the riddle but they do understand how it works and it is clear that at some point two (perhaps more) people will have to simultaneously step onto the platform to toggle some of the lights.
