BTown

BTown is a neighborhood established atop an unfinished bridge at the west end of the island. It is not considered to be part of the island of Singapore, and the bridge junction is considered a port of entry.

History

BTown originally began as a high-speed rail project connecting Singapore with Kuala Lumpur. The bridge was to span the Johor Strait and join to a rail network along the west side of the Malaysian Peninsula. However, when the project became defunct due to the corporatization of the Malaysian Peninsula, the bridge was left partially constructed, extending over 2 km into the Malaysian territory.   Plans were drawn up to demolish the bridge but were never implemented due to disputes between corporate jurisdictional claims, and the sheer number of "occupants" who would need to be relocated. In 2035, Temasek declared that the entrance of the bridge would be treated as a port of entry into Singapore, effectively treating the bridge as a nautical vessel.
