Hell Reverse - Part 18

"What the hell is this?" Deceit gave the package on her desk a frown. The shipping labels were covered in so many different colored stamps that it was impossible to tell where or when it was first shipped.

"Did that manage to hit every post office on and off the Surface World before getting here?" Etna asked.

"Looks that way." Deceit frowned, rummaging around in the top drawer of her desk. "Where did my letter opener go."

"Dunno." Etna shrugged, and did not think too hard about exactly how quiet the upper library was at the moment. No flicking of pages, or rustling of leaves. It was unusual for her, to say the least.

"Oh well." Deceit took the nearest pen and slammed it through the cardboard. "Hope it's not fragile."

"I think... I think this stamp here says Fragile in Greek." Etna squinted at the packaging.

"I don't read Greek." Deceit ripped open the packaging roughly, sending a handful of plastic packing peanuts flying.

"Clearly." Etna deadpanned.

"Now what is this?" Deceit held up a reflective black orb.

"Someone sent you a rock." Etna signed. "How nice."

"Rocks don't collect smoke." Deceit informed her. "I have have other things to deal with. Can you see to it this is shoved on a shelf, please?"

"Of course." Etna watched as her niece dropped the orb back into packing peanuts, and tried to ignore the urge to make the box disappear forever.
