Alcohol & Economics - Cycle of a Nightmare - Part 2

The trek into Eris’s domain took an awfully long time, at least it seemed that way to the very impatient girl climbing her way through the forest that had wormed its way into a children’s book or two some years back. For the first time since the seed of thought had been planted, Deceit was unsure of how badly this was going to end- because there was no doubt in her mind that this would end badly. The question was, would Eris even agree to see her, or burn her from the inside out until she was nothing more than the grey-green ash of an overcooked vampire? Eris was known to change her mind at the drop of a hat, or even less provocation.

But if she could strike the fancy of this finicky goddess, she wouldn’t have to worry about her inevitable death sentence for awhile. On the other hand, if today’s antics ended up being a bust and she somehow managed to live through it, Deceit would be stuck trying to gain Anteros’ favor- a deal that always asked too much for its small return.

As the darkness around her began to thicken, Deceit knew Eris was watching. Not unlike some of the wicked characters of fairy tales, Eris was an undocumented force all her own. But Deceit was no cursed princess, so her path was rather unhampered… at least as far as she could tell. Eris’s domain was exceedingly unpredictable; even to repeat visitors- at least that was what Deceit had come to learn through her expansive research. It was difficult to discern one type of malice from another in a realm home to each and every type. Even the time it took to cross the wasteland varied tremendously; it could go from a half hour to seven rotations of Hell’s 36-hour clock… not that watches and time telling devices even worked in Eris’s realm to begin with. Neither did compasses, Deceit groaned and pocketed hers. Damn this realm.
