Shifter

Lore

Shifters are sometimes called the weretouched, as many believe that they are the descendants of humans and lycanthropes. They are humanoids with a bestial aspect; while they cannot fully change shape they can temporarily enhance their animalistic features – a state they call shifting. Whatever their origins, shifters have evolved into a unique race. A shifter walks on the knife’s edge between the wilds and the world around them.   Shifters resemble humans but with more animal-like features. Their bodies are physically fit and lithe and they tend to move around in an animal-like manner, such as crouching, springing and leaping. Like cats, they have wide flat noses with large eyes, pointed ears, and claw-like nails on both their toes and fingers. Their hair is thick and worn long and some have long sideburns to match. A Shifter's appearance can vary between individuals with them taking on a variety of animalistc traits.    Shifters are indigenous to the continent of Seros. Shifters tend to be shunned and looked down on by the other races of the continent due to them resembling the werewolves they loathe. Shifters particularly don't get on with minotaurs for the same reason with them being distrusted and persecuted they've become fearful and even hateful of those who aren't their kind. However, halflings get along well with shifters. The shifters that live near or within human societies make their living as trappers, hunters, guides and military scouts.
