Senmorta

SENMORTA   Is the name of the setting as well as the sea that pervade Exodus Archipelago, the last bastion of mortal civilizations. Beyond the seas lies a veil of unnatural mist that imprison the archipelago from the rest of the world. Saltfolks (a catch-all terms of people whose livelihood is dependent upon the sea.) who sails to the Mist Beyond seldom returns, those who do returns brings grim tidings of an enormous hostile maritime leviathans or an armada of damned souls from previous expeditions.   CATACLYSM   The people who lived on the archipelago are the descendants of the survivors of the cataclysm Old World. The cataclysm occurred around nine hundred years ago. At the height of Imperial age, naked greed and lust for power blind the mortal nations of the Old World. Conquest and slavery become a common and acceptable norms for the world. It's the bloodiest era that herald the ending Old World. A daughter of Pertiwi lost all of she cared and loved in a brutal genocide in her land. In her grief and madness she called upon Qlippoth, the opposite of Sefirot, the force of decay and extinction. She present her case and grief to the power of destruction. The Qlippoth judged that her grief are just. But the Qlippoth can't take any revenge because they're forbidden to enter the land unless they owned it. Thus the woman in grief, rage and sadness sold the world to Qlippoth.   Having finally owned the world, The forces of Qlippoth breach the world and kill and poison the land. Their arrival is marked by unnatural mist where reality and existence is unbalanced to their realm. The Qlippoth are not fighting for justice or freedom or revenge. They fight to bring end to this man-made hell.   TOWER OF SEFIROT   In the center of Senmorta, a single gigantic tower extend from the bottom of the sea and ascending upward towards the heaven. The tower is named Tower of Sefirot. It's the largest and highest structure on Senmorta. The building is so large that the people in the islands can spot the tower when the weather is good. In the top of the towers lies the Star of Sefirot. A large crystal that was capable of emitting spectacular lights that can be seen by naked eyes even from continents away. Once, the mighty spire serves as a naval beacon that guides the mortals ark to escape their doomed old home. Nowadays the light emitted by Star of Sefirot is long extinguished. Historians, Sage and Loremaster debates on who activate the beacons and what is their intentions to save the mortals. While there are many theories on who build and operated the abandoned tower, they all agree on one single fact: The Tower was build long before the earliest record of mortals civilizations. The interior of the tower however is more akin of non-euclidean labyrinth or maze. No matter how hard any explorers try to finish the maze or even dig open the walls or floors forcefully, they are redirected back outside by some force of mysterious magic. People who push to deep often vanished without a trace. But sometimes in a blue moon, lucky expeditions uncover obscure technology or magic that the archipelago have never seen before.
