Arcanix Sorcisto

The language of magic

Senmorta magic is tied into a primordial language called Arcanix Sorcisto. The origin of the language itself is shrouded in mystery and as far it's known, Arcanix Sorcisto predates the mortal races existence. Scholar and historians often find historical documents written entirely in Arcanix, such documents usually refer to a time before the rise of mortal civilizations.   In Senmorta setting Arcanix Sorcisto is used by Magic-User, Scholars and Historians. Arcanix while it's not the Lingua Franca of Senmorta, is still very popular, and most people will recognized it straight away. The popularity associated with Arcanix language denotes it's speaker as a member of highly intellectual group.   In Game Effect:
  • Unless your characters have Dimwitted or Illiterate Flaw, Player learn Arcanix Sorcisto automatically when they raise their Learning attribute to 3.

  • Magical spells needs a verbal components. Other attributes that used as magic needs to use the language as it's verbal components. This includes extraordinary attack. Player don't need to actually fluent in the language, just using it as a verbal components. Meaning that a Pyromancer can still cast fire spell as long as the Pyromancer knows Arcanix word for "Fire".

  • Silence Bane prevent a new spell being cast. It does not nullify an ongoing spells.

  • The language can be used for self defense measure. Anyone who knows the language, and is capable of speaking it. Can use a minor spell to stop time for less than a second. In game term, anyone with Arcanix Sorcisto can use Learning for Defend Action rolls to attack that target Guard or Toughness. Defending Resolve using Arcanix Sorcisto falls under the jurisdiction of the GM whether allowed or not depending upon the circumstances.
