Material Characteristics

Yellow Burn is solid yellow in color with sharp jagged edges and faint wisps of smokes emanate from its' surface.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Yellow Burn is slightly warm to the touch. It is highly flammable and if stuck with a sharp point or if it experiences a violent shock it can explode.

Compounds

Yellow burn is carefully fused with rope for wrapping around torches and burning. In its' raw form it is used to clear rubble away from other areas in the mine, but it must be carefully used in case it causes a chain reaction setting off the other Yellow Burn in the area.

Geology & Geography

Yellow Burn is found only in the mines of Dragon's Ridge. This is also the official product mined by the dwarven kingdoms that live there. However there is a belief that Yellow Burn is just the material they present to the world while the dwarves keep the gems and riches for themselves.

Origin & Source

Yellow burn is found within the sun ore. Sun ore will glitter in the fire light, but veins are mostly found by the smoke emanating from the walls.

Life & Expiration

Yellow Burn is extremely unstable in its' raw form. It must be carefully removed from the surrounding rock and is often shaved into a powder form where it is a little more stable. At least striking the powder will not set it off while in powder form. The powder form will still burn, but it is mostly used for starting fires or in magical spells. If the powder gets wet however it becomes unusable until it is dried out.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Yellow Burn is used as an explosive to clear other areas in mines or when fighting enemies. It is risky to use in battle due to its' unstable nature, but sometimes the risk is seen as acceptable during battle. In it's powder form it can be infused into a variety materials such as textiles, armor, and weapons. Yellow burn can add slight fire resistance or in the case of weapons it can add fire damage to attacks.

Refinement

While it can be used in its' raw form it is extremely dangerous to do so. It is typically shaved into a powder form so it can be handled safely.
