Reign of Winter: The Snows of Summer 04/15/2019

General Summary

After a few assignments with the Pathfinder Society we journeyed to the nation of Taldor, Pimaal and I, Seryile also known as Bahlaanaar - worthy servant, to a tiny emerald dragon Graagrahgron. Pimaal being a tolerated esoteric monk, a slyph with a pale frail look about him, and a light breeze following him around.   In the city of Oppara, capital of Taldor, we heard there would be many adventure and opportunities here. It seems many adventurers already beat us here, with only one job left on the board. There I had issues with a catfolk named Alyara, who was trying to steal OUR job. But with the task being escorting a caravan to Hildrin in a couple days time, more was merrier and the payment was five gold each.   Alyara is a female catfolk with leopard patterned fur, who wore studdead leather with an armored kilt and had equipped a longsword and chakram. Nearby was a red gold fur patterned kitsune named Tannim, was who munching on an apple and attracted the attention of Graagrahgron, who I didn't know till now that he really liked apples! He had a strange dagger attached to a rope on him, and a pendant of a phoenix around his neck   Graagrahgron liked the apples so much he demanded we gather more for rations, and he showed interest in a couple of the bananas as well. After shopping we went to the Lucky Pony tavern, at Tannim's recommendation. His friend owns and bought the place after winning money from the racing tracks. It was here he told us a story of his mother encountering a rare phoenix.   Around dusk we heard the uproar of many angry adventurers. Investigating the scene, we saw the adventure board was on fire, and the gathered adventurers angry that they were called here under false pretenses. Tannim shouted "50 gold to the last man standing!" and started a brawl. Alyara laid out a random person, and I helped from a safe distance by casting a sleep spell around my new found allies. Graagrahgron bouncing excitedly on my head as he watched the entertainment. Alyara was hit hard by a dwarf, whom she vowed to defeat as she withdrew from the fight as the town guard entered the scene.   The rest of us went to bed, while Alyara stayed up drinking til morning, hit on Pimaal and then past out on his shoulder. He took her upstairs to her room and left a bucket nearby before returning.   We browsed the market damages, Tanrim assisting merchants for payment. I helped a tailor shop in organizing, was offered a dress half off. Was interested in a courtier's outfit but held off, but was given a hand written voucher should I pass through again.   We found a flyer identical to others calling for adventurers, but no identifying marks or signatures. Taking it to a scribe we learned little of value as it was ordinary paper and ink, most likely produced by a printing press. But no one was known to have one in the area. I shared with a guard what I had discovered, and they were aware but no idea who was making them.   Later that night a larger crowd gathered at the bulletin board, and from my vantage point I saw pickpockets in the crowd. I called out "Thief" and another brawl broke out. Spells were cast, and weapons were drawn. Pimmal cast grease into the crowd, and I assisted by created a small area of entangling quagmire. Alyara found the dwarf she had fought previously and knocked him to the ground. The guards once again showed up to calm the riot, but the brawl continued on for some time. We dispersed from the scene to prepare for the caravan in the morning.   In the morning the caravan gathered, promised us five gold each once we reached our destination. Along the way I found ferns of interests well as fire lily and liver wart. Earned 5 gold once getting to Heldren, which was uneventful beyond the herbs I had gathered.   In the village I assisted the apothecary who was brewing a potion of resist cold, and had a stockpile of alchemist fire, saying her brother was killed by trolls in a recent adventure.   The tavern was bustling with activity, another human male adventure was there with studded leather, brown hair, bow, interesting looking belt pouches of different shapes and sizes. Claims there is not a door he can't open. Didn't quite catch his name as I wasn't present the entire night at the tavern. We learned from Tannim that a noble lady was dragged into a forest by bandits and snowy creatures, and for fear it might be troll related, the alchemist gave us one alchemist fire each. The others recruited a rogue named Shedrost.   We discovered overturned carriages, and a statue of ice. The snowy trail leading deeper into the forest. Found an wagon with hand maiden's spare courtier's outfits, myself pondering if we had to give these back, took one of them.   In the overturned wagon with a locked door, we heard shuffling. Opening the door revealed two slain guards, reanimated as zombies. I was startled by the zombies and went to shoot, fumbled and missed terribly making her insecure of her crossbow skill. Pimmal punched one of the zombies and it went aflame. Once they were dealt with we found a jewelry box under one of the seats in the wagon.
