Mental characteristics

Personal history

Growing up in a small farming village about a days ride from Lilac bay, Violet was enthralled by the chaos storms that would ravage the land. She had lost her mother to one of the storms when she was too young to remember and her father didn't know how to explain to her how dangerous they were. She would stay in their shelter during the storm but afterwards would take a small hand crossbow her father had gotten her and set off on an adventure to see what had changed.   As she grew, her understanding of the storms grew with her, she finally understood how dangerous they could be, but she had also gained an insight into how they change the plants they interact with. She came across a travelling mage from Sivaya, a kindly older elf who was going from village to village to try and repair the damage the storms caused. After his initial denial of her request to teach her magic, she became stubborn, every time he would come to her small village she would follow him around observing as he set things back to right and further pleading with him to take her on as an apprentice.   Though he continued to deny her requests, he wasn't blind to the progress she made on her own, showing a certain aptitude towards learning magic. It wasn't long before he was giving her instruction by the way of advice on how to improve her form or enunciation. As the droughts struck Hanajra, Violet was able to use her magic to keep her fathers farm alive and thriving. Though as word began to reach her of the state of Lilac Bay and how the people there were starving she felt a compulsion to go help. Despite her father's objections, not wanting to lose his daughter after already losing his wife, she made the journey to Lilac Bay where she established the Lilac Bay Botanical Greenhouse.   One of the Great Wonders of Seccos, this arcane construct is designed in a way to require minimal water and time to produce bountiful harvests on an adjustable schedule depending on the sigils that have been activated. Although the knowledge that led to its creation had been lost as quickly as the inspiration had been gained, Violet's fevered period of construction had saved Lilac Bay and potentially the entire kingdom of Hanajra.

Failures & Embarrassments

In the early days of her learning to modify plants with magic, there were many mistakes. The most memorable and embarrassing to the high councillor is the time she nearly destroyed the year's crop with an out of control tomato.   Violet was only ten years old when she overheard her father talking about how the drought was affecting his possible harvest. She decided that the best thing she could do for him was to use the magic she had been studying to make his plants bigger. She figured she'd start small and started weaving her spell around a young tomato plant. She didn't account for how wild the magic would be compared to when she would practice just after a chaos storm had passed. She managed to keep control of the raw magic and prevented it from burning her out, but the spell got away from her as she was finished up and the effect just kept looping with as much magic as it could draw in. She screamed in agony bringing the attention of her father, who came out to find his daughter on the ground screaming in pain as she started to glow with the ethereal green light of Gleisal as the tomato plant she had enchanted grew to several times his height sprouting tomatoes larger than his tool shed. Eventually, she was able to stop the flow of magic and lost consciousness, though her father could tell she was still breathing, a tomato broke free of the vine and rolled its way towards the house crushing a large portion of the field in the process. Thankfully it hadn't gained enough speed to damage the building he was unsure about what to do the crops but the first thing he needed to know was if Violet was alright.   She slept for two days after the incident, during which the father and surrounding neighbours gathered up what they could when the wandering mage happened by their small village and took note of the giant tomato vine and recalled the young girl who lived at the small farm who had always begged him to teach her magic. He had always refused thinking humans were too unpredictable to be able to properly wield magic. When he went to knock on the door Violet answered and when he asked if she was responsible for the giant tomato plant she teared up claiming she "Just wanted to help her daddy"   After he had managed to calm her down, with the assistance of her father, he apologized for how rude he had been in the past and told her that whenever he came through he would do what he could to instruct her in magic so she could help people.

Morality & Philosophy

Growing up at the beginning of the first age when humanity had not yet fully embraced magic on Sovis and the thousand-year war had just ended on Mudris was a hard time for humans everywhere on Seccos. Though the humans of Sovis found some relief from their neighbours in Sivaya to the East, and Sekara in the north. The Elves of those kingdoms, though initially apprehensive, realized they were fleeing the rumours of war they had been hearing about and offered them a chance to start fresh. This help left many from those early days with a strong sense of community that transcends race and kingdom. The humans of Lilac bay would be just as willing to help a human as they would an elf, or Niskulan, or even a naga once they got past the shock of seeing one of the rare snakelike people of the southern continent of Zuynov.
