The Wildmen of the Northern Teeth

Isolated from the rest of Sovis, the former military squad that landed in the frozen lands beyond the Frozen Teeth survived and thrived out of sheer determination. They were spared the ravages of the Thousand-year war, and although they developed the ability to use magic like the rest of humanity. They are among the least likely people to have magi amongst their populace, whether this is due to their isolation and thus their magic users are only those who have a natural inclination towards the art, or because of their culture of strength and glory, it is unsure.   The land was split up into a variety of territories as the initial squadron that landed there split off into smaller tribes that made it easier to survive. Over time these tribes started to differ from one another, leading to inevitable conflict. This led to a culture of constant combat, with each tribe raiding the others whether for revenge, a good-natured prank, or sport. Loss of life and limb is a constant of life beyond the frozen teeth and the hard warriors who make up its tribes reflect that reality.

Common Etiquette rules

If a warrior sits in the longhouse of his enemy, there will be no bloodshed until the guests draw their blade. To do otherwise would bring deep shame upon the tribe and could lead to the exile or extermination of its people.

Coming of Age Rites

As the children of the tribes reach the age of maturity they are given a task to complete, and though this task might vary from tribe to tribe, it usually takes the form of some kind of hunt. Some tribes might send a group of children out together to compete against each other in bringing down the best of a herd. While other tribes might assign each child the task of bringing back the animal they feel would bring the most honour to their family.

Funerary and Memorial customs

The funerary customs of the tribes fall into one of two categories, the first is those who do not live near the frozen teeth. They build for their dead a pyre of the finest wood they can find and place the body atop it. For the entirety of the day of the funeral, the tribe comes together in celebration with the deceased as the guest of honour. They swap stories of heroics and battles well fought while they drink and feast. As night falls the mood turns solemn as the pyre is lit and the soul is offered up to Arkoth who had taken quite the shine to the tribal humans since their arrival.
