Game of Gods

Let us play a game like Kings and Gods as we lay our armies upon the field.

History

Based on the dual decks of Blessing and Chaos that are believed to have been released into the world by Aeleon the Lord of Insanity, although none can confirm this. It is said that any who play the game with the original decks will find the faces of the heroes take the shape of those who mean most to the player, and the stakes grow much higher.   It is said one of the people to have survived this game were enthralled by the style of its play and thus went on to develop Battlemarch, although some believe it is so none will have to suffer the way they had due to their ignorance of how the game was played.

Execution

Each player begins the game with a deck of 52 cards from which they choose 30 to form their army. Once each player has formed their armies they then draw a squad of seven cards. From these cards, each player takes a turn playing 1 card until all of the front row (3 slots) and the back row (2 slots) have been filled or both players have no more cards in their hand, whichever comes first. The total value of the front and back rows are added up (with any modifiers from skill cards) as the attack value, and the total value of the front row is added up (with any modifiers from skill cards) as the defence value. At this point, the players remove any heroes that cancelled out by their counterpart. Tier 1 heroes cancel tier 1 enemy heroes etc. The player who has the highest remaining attack after subtracting their opponent's defence is the winner of the round. All the cards from that round are discarded and the players draw a fresh squad of 7 cards. This continues until one of the players has won 2 rounds.

Components and tools

Each deck of Battlemarch cards contains 52 cards broken up into 2 styles. Swordsman and Magi   Swordsmen With the numbered cards ranging from 3-20 and 6 heroes, the face of these cards is red with a variety of melee weapons as their design. The skill cards are Phalanx (which raises the defence of one card by 3) and Sabotage (which lowers the value of one card by 2)   Magi With the numbered cards ranging from 3-20 and 6 heroes, the face of these cards is black with spellbooks and staffs displayed on their face. The spell cards are Refresh (which allows the player to discard their full hand and draw a fresh one of 6) and Demolish (automatically destroys 1 card)   Hero Cards With 6 Heroes on each style, they are broken down into 3 tiers. Any hero of a tier that faces another hero of the same tier cancels each other out due to their identical strength. Heroes are immune to the effects of spells and skills Heroes have a value of 15 for attack and defence.
