Energy Shield Emitter

Energy shield emitters are a type of portable shield generator that projects a wall of energy that can either block, repulse, deflect or absorb certain objects that comes into contact with it. Unlike force field generators, which emits a sphere around itself and its user, energy shields only block a certain direction making them relatively more resilient and precise at the cost of coverage.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Energy shields are projected by shield emitters. These devices project a flat plane of force that forms near to the device.

Manufacturing process

Schematics for the device is either downloaded from an online database or created from scratch from a computer. Afterwards it's time to fabricate the individual components. From casting the metal components at a foundry to machining the tinier bits with a machining station. Polymer or plastic bits are fabricated from 3D printers. Circuitry and other electronics parts are either bought or made from scratch. Finally it's time to assemble them all together. A delicate procedures are usually done with assembly stations though doing it manually with hand tools are also a viable option albeit its more prone to potential mistakes. After the emitter is built, it's hooked up to a battery or power source and its now ready for use.   Simple energy shield emitters project a disk or square depending on the shape of the emitter. In more complex or elaborate shield emitters, knowledge of programming and energy manipulation is required to program the onboard computer to emit the shield in a certain shape. More complex shapes means more time and resources is required.

Raw materials & Components
Commercial energy shield emitters are generally made of metal with a polymer exterior to protect the inner mechanisms inside. Military grade emitters have armor reinforced casings for better durability. Computer boards are also required for more complex energy shield emitters. Finally there's the power source. Usually batteries are used but in more power hungry shields the emitters are hooked up via power cables on an external power source.
