Endeavor

Demographics

In Endeavor, there are only two possible career choices. You either serve the people's needs, or the species' understanding of the alien world they now call home. Civil workers are by far the most common, ranging anywhere from food distribution, to city-wide maintenance. Everybody in Endeavor can find a way to contribute towards the city, or Maklan society as a whole. The Archivists are the top of any theoretical hierarchy as they consume the most resources. They are those who explore precursor cities, or study material recovered by those who do. The Institute is always welcome potential Archivists, and educates them constantly on the ever growing fountain of precursor knowings. Currently, one tenth of the Endeavor populace are Archivists, eight tenths are civil workers, and another tenth are full time parents with many offspring.

Government

The Institute is responsible for everything in Endeavor. its where the city wide Counsel is held prior to the grand Counsel, its where laws are put into place, and its where all records are stored. Since Maklan's don't require many laws to keep them in check, the laws in place are few. The first is essentially for resource management. Dictating the limitations enforced on necessities and luxuries, considering the state of the dead world they colonized, their resources are limited to what they can grow within their local bio-sphere and what they can harvest or scavenge from the precursors.   The second law is based on population control, and entrusts the reproduction of the city to a select few individuals with favorable genes. Outlawing the reproduction of the regular people. Each child is screened at birth to determine whether or not they are designated as a Progenitor. Only ten percent of the city is given Progenitor status. Temporary sterilization techniques are available at no penalty to the public, and the rare failures in said technology are given to the most deserving homes. Any extra children a Progenitor cannot care for are also distributed to good homes. Endeavor does a very good job at ensuring no children remain without families for long.

Defences

The dome around Endeavor was erected to keep the Dust Storms and erratic weather patterns at bay. For as long as Endeavor has stood, it has worked flawlessly. It is in constant repair as it surely massive, and many thousands of people are constantly maintaining it.

Infrastructure

Endeavor for most of its beginning was extremely reliant on the Maverick System for food and water. Once it got its own hydroponics, it began to put food back into the system. For the longest time, they went without a water source of their own, since transporting it from the ocean was unreasonable at the time. However, once Archivists discovered records of wells, and the water table, several wells were dug in Endeavor that enabled it to supply its own people with fresh water. With regards to power, Endeavor never received its own Warp Star, and relied solely on the Nexus at Radiance to power it. Power like most things was received through the Maverick network.   The city is encased in a large metallic sphere that is maintained by over eighty thousand people each and every day to protect it from the harsh dust storms that devoured Cascade. The city itself has a functional supply chain f food and water within the Bio-Sphere, as well as a cultivated bio-zone.
