Scovania

Scovania, a triad of islands in the Great Expanse forming the entirety of the current known world. It is a rugged landscape blasted with ice and snow in the north and scorched by the sun in the south. The people of Scovania are a hearty and strong people consisting mostly of humans and dwarfs. There are no current defined nations. Instead, the land is divided into general territories governed by their prevailing city-state. There are eight said city-states, Gunzderfeld being the largest followed by Corvellis, Point Glimmer, Volant, Kimberton, Ferling, Umber, and Point Grey. They are all on relatively peaceful terms aside from the occasional trade dispute or skirmish in the wilds between bandit groups and the military. The Scovanian calendar runs on a five day week with each day being 40 hours in length, 20 hours of daylight and 20 hours of nighttime. Each year is 300 days divided into 10 months and there are only two consistent seasons, Noldun being the cold months followed by the warm months of Lictern. Lictern is the time of year that the farmers sow their crops in preparation for Noldun when no crops can survive the harsh cold except for in the southern territory of Umber. Umber relies mostly on the local arid plants and fauna for food and sustenance. Most of the people in Scovania live fairly plain and meager lives. There is a fairly prevalent class divide among the more wealthy noblemen and mostly impoverished peasants. Some people speculate that it is only a matter of time before there is a mass civilian uprising against the noble class. Weather or not they have the determination or willingness to risk their lives for equality remains to be seen but for now it seems that the rich keep getting rich and the poor keep getting poor. What's more, some sailors sailors who sailed out of Kimberton to try and find the edge of the world tell stories of strange ships in the night. They describe long thin boats with two masts gliding silently through the dark waters never coming closer than a thousand or more feet from the sailor's ships. They never see anyone on the decks and assume most of the crew are below deck manning the oars. A few sailors however claim that they see dark robed figures close to the stern apparently guiding the ship. Wherever your allegiances lie, everyone can agree on one thing, that things in Scovania are changing. Things that may determine the fate of the world and alter the way of life for many many people forever.
