Scionna

Rise of the God-Kings

Created by

Two decades have passed since the celestial rain. When the Elder God, whose name has been lost to the ages returned from his long slumber. For reasons only known to him, he shattered his divine creations, sending meteoric fragments of the Heavens and Gods themselves raining down across Scionna and striking their names from the all texts, Temples and even from the memories of all Scionna's people.   In the years that followed a chaotic frenzy for power among all mortal and monster races ensued. Those lucky enough to find these stones gained immense power, A few gathered enough stones that they declared the self proclaimed titles of God-Kings.   12 God-Kings rule the ever changing world of Scionna, Those few souls who have found the largest of stones and acquired the most divine powers now shape the very earth they tread upon. The immense power they wield however is not without cost, it has become rumored that many people who have contacted the stones have suffered delusions and madness, and that the God-Kings themselves are plagued by the broken whispers of whatever lost gods stone they behold.     Free Cities have began bolstering their defenses, on guard to the looming threat of the expanding God-King Empires, while many of the city leadership search for inroads to appease the new continental powers, or find their own celestial fragments in attempts to become worthy of that title themselves.   Many of the Kingdoms that once stood for centuries have already began to crumble before the power of the God-Kings and the civil wars and infighting that has run rampant in the ensuing chaos. New ruins now mark the landscape as burned out castles and forts are abandoned and refugees flee to safer lands. These embattled Monarchies are now often referred to as the Fallen Kingdoms.   Not all the Chaos that has ensued is the making of men, nor the trouble of God-Kings ruling over new empires, but the mere presence of these Divine shards has began to seep into the very fabric of Scionna. Areas plagued by consistant gale force winds and other strange forms of weather, Never-before seen creatures twisted into wild monsters, and wide rifts that have split open to the other planes.
