Midnight Covenant
The Midnight Covenant is an organization led by the nobility of a bygone era. All of them are powerful undead and have built their domains in the Glaciers of the West, claiming the unforgiving frost wasteland as their domain, building fortresses, and excavating the ice searching new bodies for their growing armies.
Structure
The Midnight Covenant is led by the Midnight King, Cyne of Swarster, self-proclaimed legitimate inheritor of the throne of Dheurag. Extending his shadow are his direct vassals, the five High Dukes, selected from the most powerful noble houses scions. Bellow them the Night Barons. The Night Barons command castles and have the responsibility of raising their own legions of undead soldiers, often directed by powerful lieutenants that act as the eyes and voices of their lords.
Public Agenda
The Covenant has three main objectives, each one designed to boult the pavement for the next one:
- Prepare their new domains. Both by the use of undead workers to build structures, weapons, and war machines for one side and by gathering a large army to march over their enemies.
- Put the plebs that dared to rebel against their rightful betters in their place. They wish to subjugate the ones who once defied and defeated them to leave no doubt of their supremacy.
- Rebuild the might of the Kingdom of Dheurag. The final objective is to restore the greatness of eld to the kingdom and make it as eternal as the night.
Assets
The undead legions are bolstered by unearthing countless bodies forgotten and buried in the icy grave of the glaciers. They excavate without pause, looking for new servants to exhume and bring them back to life, or more precisely, unlife.
History
The origin of the Covenant traces back to the violent days before the joining. When the revolution started taking the lives of the nobility one of the throne claimants, lord Cyne of Swarster, summoned his supporters in a clandestine gathering and made a bargain with a devil called Nagrioth. In exchange for instaurating Nagrioth as their patron god, they would be given a chance at surviving and consolidating the throne. They were given haven by the devil overlord and were reborn as undying creatures, free of the shackles of mortality.
The once dooming curse of the Eternal Night changed its meaning from the symbol of the end of the world to a herald of their resurgence. Where their imperfect old servants were ungrateful, rebellious, and led by their passions, the new perfect undead servants were unquestionably obedient and restless. A clear sign of their right to rule the new world. Since that fateful moment, the Midnight Covenant embarked on the divine mission to claim their rightful place.
